Meredith Munyon’s Baby Shower

My Visit with Paul Munyon

Helping a first-time grandpa-to-be with his daughter-in-law’s baby shower

The kitchen at Lafayette Presbyterian Church, Tallahassee, Florida

This is me, preparing the treats for Meredith Munyon’s baby shower in the Lafayette Presbyterian Church kitchen in Tallahassee, Florida.

Paul Munyon is like a brother to me that I never had. I have known him and kept up with him since junior high, about 1970. For me, catering the event in Tallahassee last August was much more than a shower for Meredith Munyon, Paul’s daughter-in-law and the wife of Paul’s son Patrick. It was also a tribute to Paul’s friendship and a celebration of the coming birth of his first grandchild.

What a great occasion it was, to see family members, old friends and neighbors, and celebrate nothing but happiness! Colonel Paul Munyon served two six-month tour in Afghanistan with the U.S. Air Force before he retired. We just call him “Grampa” now. He was very proud to see his son and his daughter-in-law happy and ready for the new addition to the family.

We had beautiful weather. About 55 people came. We served meatballs, lasagna, rice with veggies with a touch of oriental style, small sandwiches with different meats and cheeses, mixed green salads and trimmings, bread rolls, roasted peppers for bruschetta.  Some pasta, gluten free for Meredith.

I enjoyed meeting Meredith’s friends and family. I would like to personally thank all of the folks, including Norman Munyon, Paul’s big brother, for coming by the kitchen and saying “great food, some of the best I have ever had!” That makes any Chef feel great!

Thanks also to Lafayette Presbyterian Church for allowing me the pleasure of working in their big beautiful kitchen! I felt right at home. They had all the equipment I needed.

I ran into Patrick, Meredith, and the baby at the annual Springtime Tallahasse Festival in April. The proud parents and the baby are all doing fine. He’s happy as a lark! Maybe we will see you when we cater your high school graduation. They grow up so fast…

I hope you enjoy this slide show of scenes from the shower.

River Ridge High School Orchestra Award Banquet

Honoring the River Ridge Orchestra’s Graduating Seniors and Award Winners

carrot cake with cream cheese frosting decorated in River Ridge school colorsWe are all proud of our seniors in the River Ridge orchestra as they have come a long way in the four years of music training they have had.  All the orchestra members including our daughter Jessica who plays the violin have gone from not knowing how to hold their instrument back in the 7th grade to becoming good enough to perform at the Fox in my opinion.

For dessert, a wonderful carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, decorated in River Ridge school colors. A special thanks to our amazing pastry chef!

We are grateful that RRHS orchestra gave us the opportunity to cater their event after we catered teacher’s appreciation day in February. We are happy to know people know us and of the quality of the service and food that we provide.

We were happy to see people really enjoy the lasagna, meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo, oven roasted potatoes, salads and desserts.

We hope to do it again next year.

Here’s more info about the banquet.

A Light Lunch at CSI Laboratories

Lab Week Luncheon at CSI in Alpharetta

CSI_logoMade a nice light lunch for 150 at Cytometry Specialists, Inc., in Alpharetta, GA, to help celebrate CSI’s Lab Week. We served soups, salad and fresh bread. It was totally a hit. Everyone appreciated a more healthy alternative to sandwiches and sweets.

Fantastico Italian Gourmet, serving north-metro Atlanta, catered a luncheon for CSI

CSI Founder and Owner Ron Ghafary

I’ve catered several smaller executive luncheons for CSI Laboratories, and my favorite pastry chef has created special desserts for several CSI doctors on an individual basis. Company founder and owner Ron Ghafary tells me that he has encouraged CSI executives to use me more, so I guess he likes Fantastico’s quality and service well enough to give me more business in the future. Many thanks to Mr. Ghafary for the vote of confidence! I truly appreciate it.

Working with CSI has been a pleasure. For the second year in a row, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has listed CSI as one of the best places to work in metropolitan Atlanta. I hope we can be back soon.
